Damage to CCD231-C6, 10413-07-01 8/16/16 EWD

1764
Taken on 7/28/16 when damage was discovered. I notice that the large fragment seems to be dangling below the surface of the CCD, not where it is seen in the later pictures. Between these images the dewar had to be turned top to bottom as part of the disassembly process. Presumably the fragment moved during this process.

Remaining images were taken on 8/3/16 when dewar was first disassembled.

1775
Oblique view showing debris clinging to bond wires as seen through the dewar window.

1976 through 1979
These show the four sets of bond wires. The other three sets seem untouched.

1791
You’ve seen this picture. It is the best picture of the damage I have.

1792
Overview of the appearance of the CCD.

1793
A rather fuzzy picture showing the flexi being well attached to the CCD package.

1794
Another view of the flexi in the damaged corner. In this and the previous picture the flexi has been disconnected from the intermediate PC board that handles wire routing, lowpass filters on certain bias voltages, and ESD protection via zener diodes.
